SUMMARY:Adult Community of Practice: CPORT Updates
DESCRIPTION:Join our Adult Community of Practice for an in-depth session on advancing evidence-based approaches to assessing sexual offending risk\, with a focus on CSAEM-related offending.Validated risk assessments are a cornerstone of effective and efficient responses in this field. In this session\, Dr. Michael Seto and Angela Wyatt Eke will present the latest developments in the Child Pornography Offender Risk Tool (CPORT-R) the only validated static risk assessment designed specifically for men charged or convicted of CSAEM offenses. Grounded in factors such as age\, offending history\, supervision outcomes\, and indicators of sexual interest in children\, CPORT has become an essential resource for practitioners.Currently in its final stages of revision\, CPORT-R incorporates new research and extensive user feedback. Participants will gain early insight into key updates\, as well as related advancements in CASIC-R and the introduction of a new Evaluators' Workbook designed to support consistent\, high-quality application.Designed for professionals working in clinical\, research\, law enforcement\, and justice settings\, this Adult Community of Practice event offers a valuable opportunity to deepen your expertise\, engage with emerging tools\, and connect with peers committed to best practice.Presenter BiosMichael Seto is a clinical and forensic psychologist and researcher based at the University of Ottawa's Institute for Mental Health Research. He has practiced and published extensively on pedophilia\, sexual offending against children\, and online sexual harms. He is a co-developer of the CPORT and CPORT-R and a member of ATSA since 1998.Angela Wyatt Eke is the Research Coordinator in the Criminal Behaviour Analysis Section of the Ontario Provincial Police. Her areas of research include intimate partner violence\, sexual offending and child sexual exploitation\, with a focus on risk assessment. She works extensively with police\, correctional and mental health partners\, providing training and consultation. She is a co-developer of the CPORT and CPORT-R and has been a member of ATSA since 2006.
